A Deep-Rooted Winegrowing Heritage

Clos des Cordeliers is a wine estate rich in history, located in the heart of the Saumur-Champigny appellation. For more than three centuries, this vineyard has been run by the Ratron family, thus perpetuating a passionate family winemaking tradition.

A Range of Grape Varieties

Cabernet Franc The estate’s main and emblematic grape variety is Cabernet Franc. Grown by the Ratron family for four generations, it is the cornerstone of production at Clos des Cordeliers. This variety, typical of the Loire region, is known for its ability to produce elegant and complex red wines.

Introduction of Chenin Blanc In 2021, the estate diversified its range by planting three hectares of Chenin Blanc, an iconic white grape variety of the Loire. This introduction marks a new stage in the vineyard’s diversity and innovation, making it possible to create white wines that harmoniously complement the existing range.

Certified Vineyard Management

Since Marie-Françoise Ratron-Galet took over the estate in 2018, special attention has been paid to showcasing the terroir. The certified management of the vineyard aims to best express the richness of the soils, composed of tuffeau and Champigny stone. This pedological diversity contributes to the production of two distinct cuvées: Prestige and Tradition, each offering unique qualities and aromatic richness.

The Prestige and Tradition cuvées reflect the diversity and richness of the vineyard. Thanks to an environmentally friendly approach and know-how passed down from generation to generation, these wines embody the excellence and authenticity of Clos des Cordeliers.
