France Passion Invitations Formula : history
The editor of a wine magazine created the "Formule INVITATIONS" in 1992 after noticing the increasing number of motorhomes travelling through the vineyards of the South of France. He became aware of the difficulty of finding a place to park at night in areas where winegrowing and market gardening occupied much of the land.
The idea was to offer a structured system for hospitable winegrowers to welcome motorhome owners onto their properties, on a private basis, and with no commercial strings attached. Motorhome owners would be invited to park freely on their land, all year round, for a full 24 hours of relaxation or just an overnight stay.
Several dozen proprietors of vineyards in the South of France were convinced that they would facilitate and enhance the experience of motorhome owners travelling in their regions, and adopted the concept as a way of operating.
In 1994, collaboration with the Confédération Nationale des Caves Particulières (CNCP) made it possible to extend the "Formule INVITATIONS" to vineyards in Alsace, Bordeaux, Champagne, Bourgogne, Jura and the Loire Valley.
In 1997, following an agreement between FRANCE PASSION and the Chamber of Agriculture host network "Bienvenue à la Ferme", cheese, honey and fruit producers could now join the "Formule INVITATIONS" along with the winegrowers. It became possible to extend the network to the whole of France.
Since it was created, the friendly and safe "Formule INVITATIONS", with its lack of any commercial obligations, has brought pleasure to a great many campers from all over Europe - Belgium, Switzerland, England, Sweden or Finland etc.
In 2013, the Invitations Formula offers 1750 stopovers in properties of wine-growers, farmers and craftmen, covering 89 different departments.
Moreover :
FRANCE PASSION is a statutory member of the "Comité de Liaison Camping-Car" (CLC) which includes peripheral camper organizations and user associations with the French Federation of the Associations and Camping-Cars Clubs (FFACCC), the French Federation of Camping and Caravaning (FFCC) and the "Syndicat des Industriels et Constructeurs de Loisirs" (SICVERL).
FRANCE PASSION is a signatory of a protocol of agreement (PA 1996) defining the joint position of the main operators concerned in terms of free circulation and parking for campers.
